Rolling Pasta, best known for its affordable and satisfying pasta dishes, is where I originally went for a simple pasta meal. But when I saw that they had just launched a Classic Korean-Style Pork Cutlet (Gyeongyangsik Donkatsu), I couldn’t resist giving it a try instead.

Gyeongyangsik Donkatsu

A Retro-Inspired Meal

The dish came with two generous pieces of pork cutlet, served alongside a small bowl of creamy soup, cabbage salad, sweet corn, and rice—a classic layout reminiscent of old-school Korean Western-style diners.

The soup came out first—it was a basic cream soup, nothing too special, but still enjoyable. I personally like it when a pork cutlet meal includes soup like this.

As for the cutlet: thick, golden-brown, and perfectly crispy on the outside while remaining juicy and tender inside. What truly tied the whole dish together was the demi-glace sauce—rich, savory, and just slightly sweet, it paired beautifully with the pork.

Reasonably Priced, Rich in Nostalgia

At just 10,900 KRW(as of September 2024), the Classic Donkatsu from Rolling Pasta offers both generous portions and excellent value. It reminded me of the nostalgic flavors from family-style diners in Korea—comfort food that feels both familiar and satisfying.
