Hard-boiled eggs are simmered in a sweet and spicy gochujang-based sauce, making them perfect as a banchan (side dish) or even a protein-rich snack. It’s incredibly easy to make and bursting with flavor!

Spicy Braised Eggs

Ingredients (Serves 2–3)


Instructions

1. Boil the Eggs

Place the eggs in a pot and cover with water. Add 1 tablespoon of vinegar and 1 tablespoon of salt. Boil for 10 minutes. Transfer the eggs to cold water, cool completely, then peel.

2. Make the Sauce

In a bowl, mix together gochujang, gochugaru, sugar, minced garlic, and 200ml of water until well combined.

3. Braise the Eggs

Pour the sauce into a pot and bring to a boil. Add the peeled eggs and simmer over medium heat for 10–15 minutes, turning occasionally so they’re evenly coated in the sauce.

4. Finish and Serve

Turn off the heat and sprinkle sesame seeds on top. Best enjoyed warm with a bowl of steamed rice!
