There was a time when Dongsuh’s original 2L barley tea bags were completely sold out everywhere. In Korea, when you think of “bori-cha” (barley tea), Dongsuh is the go-to brand. I’ve tried several others, but nothing beats the toasty, nutty flavor of Dongsuh’s blend—it’s what I’ve grown up drinking, and it still suits my taste best.
When I couldn’t find the large version in stock, I picked up their single-serve barley tea bags from the same brand as an alternative.
Made with 100% Korean Roasted Barley
Just like the larger version, this single-serve tea is made with 100% Korean-grown roasted barley, so the ingredients are just as trustworthy and satisfying.
Small but Practical: 1.5g Bags, 100-Count
Each box contains 100 tea bags, each weighing 1.5g. While the unit price is slightly higher compared to the bulk 2L bags, it’s worth it for the freshness and convenience of making just one cup at a time. It’s especially great for colder weather when you crave a warm drink throughout the day.
Brew to Your Taste — Up to 500ml Per Bag
According to the packaging, each tea bag can flavor up to 500ml of water. I tried that, and it was a bit mild. For a richer, nuttier taste, I’d recommend using around 200–300ml of water per bag. The tea also brews well in cold water, making it easy to chill in a bottle for refreshing barley tea on the go.
Final Thoughts
As someone used to the large brew format, this was a different experience—but a pleasant one. I appreciated the ability to enjoy a fresh cup every time, and it quickly became a staple on cooler days. If you're looking for a warm, caffeine-free drink that’s easy to prepare, Dongsuh’s single-serve barley tea is a solid choice.
