If you’re planning a trip to Frankfurt, one café you shouldn’t miss is Wacker’s Kaffee. Opened in 1914, this café has over 100 years of history and remains a beloved coffee spot for locals, while offering travelers a unique and memorable experience.

Wacker’s Kaffee

The main branch at Kornmarkt 9 stands on a site that used to house a grocery store. Historical records show that Goethe once visited this location to purchase groceries like milk, giving the café a special historical connection.

Wacker’s Kaffee has several branches across Frankfurt, but the main branch is by far the most popular among visitors. The interior is quite cozy, so it’s often busy. If you manage to grab an empty table, consider yourself lucky!

How to Order

Ordering is simple. You place your order at the counter, pay, and step aside while the barista prepares your coffee. Note that card payments are only accepted for orders over €5, so smaller items like a single espresso are best paid in cash.

What to Expect Inside

The main branch does not have air conditioning, so summer visits can feel a bit warm. When I ordered a hot Americano, the café felt quite hot, and I couldn’t stay for long. Choosing an iced beverage during warmer months is a good option.

Coffee Experience

Kaffee

The coffee at Wacker’s is known for its strong, bold flavors. Espresso lovers will enjoy it, and drinks like lattes or cappuccinos, which include milk, also seem like excellent choices.

Location

With over a century of history, Wacker’s Kaffee is more than just a café—it’s a place steeped in Frankfurt’s tradition and culture. If you’re visiting Frankfurt, why not enjoy a cup of rich coffee on the street where Goethe once walked?
