Today I picked up a box of McNulty Colombia Black Instant Coffee. What caught my attention first was the incredibly affordable price. This pack contains 100 sticks, each weighing 1g, and the total cost works out to about 110 KRW (around 8 cents) per stick.

What’s Inside?

According to the label, the ingredients are:
  • 91% Brazilian instant coffee
  • 9% Colombian roasted coffee
I was looking for an Arabica-based instant coffee and found this. The blend of Brazilian and Colombian beans gave me hope that this would be more than just your average instant mix.

How Does It Dissolve?

It dissolves perfectly in hot water—just tear open a stick, pour it into your cup, add hot water, and you're done. No spoon needed. However, since it’s not designed for cold brews, it doesn’t mix well with cold water. If you want to drink it iced, dissolve it in a little hot water first, then add cold water or ice.

Flavor & Taste

While the package suggests 100ml of water per stick, I found 150ml to be just right.

  • At 100ml, the coffee was quite strong.
  • At 200ml, it tasted a bit too weak.

With 150ml, I got a nicely balanced cup—smooth, nutty, and clean-tasting, with very little bitterness. It’s a flavor I’d recommend especially to those just starting to enjoy black coffee.

Final Thoughts

Given the price, I’m very satisfied with this coffee. It delivers more than you’d expect from a product this affordable. I’m already thinking of trying other McNulty products next time.
