Recently, I tried EATS ON Perilla Oil Buckwheat Noodles, a ready-to-eat meal that caught my attention right away. I’ve always loved buckwheat noodles, but this was my first time trying a perilla oil version from a store-bought kit—and I was pretty excited to see how it would taste.

The pack contains two servings, with buckwheat noodles, seaweed-sesame topping, perilla oil, and seasoning sauce. At first glance, the noodle portions looked a little small, but I decided to cook them before judging.

Easy to Cook in Just 2 Minutes

Since the noodles are fresh (not dried), they only take about 2 minutes to boil—super quick and convenient. While rinsing the noodles in cold water, I still felt the portions looked slightly modest, but the texture was smooth and the noodles didn’t clump at all.

I plated the noodles, added the sauce and perilla oil, sprinkled the seaweed topping, and gave everything a good mix.

Flavor & Texture

The flavor was simple but impressive. The perilla oil aroma was nutty and savory, pairing beautifully with the soft buckwheat noodles. The seasoning added a subtle saltiness that made the dish well-balanced and flavorful.

That light, nutty aroma really makes you understand why perilla oil noodles are so popular in Korea. It’s comforting, clean, and flavorful without being heavy.

Portion & Serving Ideas

If I had to point out one thing—it’s that the portion feels a bit small.

If you’re having it on its own, one person could easily finish both servings. Next time, I might pair it with a Korean buckwheat pancake (memil jeonbyeong) or a few dumplings for a fuller meal.
